Debian/Ubuntu apt repository -- permissions problem
  • Hi there,

Could you please fix the permissions for file airtime_1.8.1-1_all.deb? It's currently impossible to install via .deb packages...

"You don't have permission to access /pool/main/a/airtime/airtime_1.8.1-1_all.deb on this server."

    Thanks!

We've disabled it on purpose as there was a bug with the upgrade process. 1.8.2 will be released on Wednesday with lots of great fixes and improvements.

1.8.2 will be released on Wednesday

    Dear Paul,
I see it's been a while since the 1.8.2 release was expected.
May I ask you to send me the (link to) the 1.8.1 as I need to just test it on an Amazon EC2 infrastructure, as I emailed you earlier.

Or, can you please advice if the manual installation will do?

Thank you for the AirTime! Keep up good work.

    Kind regards,
    Sergei

You can download older versions of Airtime from Sourceforge:
    http://sourceforge.net/projects/airtime/files/

If you just want to test Airtime, then manual install is fine. I suggest
you test with 1.8.2 RC3, released last night. There are no known bugs in
    it.

When the packages are released you can uninstall Airtime with the
"airtime-uninstall.php" script, and then install from packages.

    Hi Sergei,
1.8.2 RC3 has been released and is available for download

The deb packages will be available in a day or two.
  • Nevermind! I (almost) succeede with the manual install.
However, no sound in the stream, and OnAir is not lit when 'broadcasting' playlists - but that's for another thread.

    Thanks!
  • Upgraded to 1.8.2-RC3: all works! : )

    Thank you!

    Hi,

I have to add my two cents to the blocking of the .deb files by changing permissions. I think this is not a good procedure for dealing with buggy source. There will always be bugs. There needs to be at least one binary available for those who don't want to untar and install from the wiki even if it is buggy. That is what the release notes are for. Once there is one stable binary out, then there can be delays until the next one but to have none is not good policy.

    Hi Varheek -
You are correct, normally we wouldnt block the repos because of a bug. But
this bug was so bad that we had to block them - an upgrade would wipe out
your database! We have fixed this problem and 1.8.2 will be out next week.
    Thanks for your patience!
