sound configuration - Airtime on Ubuntu Server in a VirtualBox
OK, it helps if one learns how to really un-mute the sound output using the console-based alsa-mixer. ;-) So, it is working now using alsa. In summary, on ubuntu server outputing to the sound card (not icecast) one needs to install linux-sound-bas…

Might it be a permission thing? What makes me think that is that I need to run "alsamixer" & "aplay -l" as sudo, otherwise they can't find the audio device ...

Agreed that using a LTS version may be a better idea, but our machine runs better on 11.04 with more up-to-date drivers. And the apt repository now includes support for 11.04 (natty) so it should work, no?

It wouldn't have anything to do with the 2 versions of python (2.6 & 2.7) installed here would it? The errors seem to using python2.6 and one point and then python2.7 at another.

1.9.0-RC2. If there was a tarball of the latest devel branch, I could try that, but I don't have the setup or experience for git.

Why does it contunue to fail once I switch to a more reliable Internet connection? Even after running airtime-uninstall? Did it leave a corrupt file someplace? It did install on a different computer, one using the reliable Internet connection.

Can't (use pulseaudio) because "1) pulseaudio is only running while you are logged in to your desktop, so sound would stop when you log out, and 2) while it is possible to run pulseaudio in "system-mode" (not tied to a specific u…

Will Airtime work on a system running JACK? I seem to recall seeing a thread here of someone having lot's of issues getting them to cooperate. And if JACK, why not PulseAudio?
