Airtime 2.0.2 install problems (Debian&Ubuntu): Zend, root not accepted, dpkg
The problem was Plesk. Tried installing airtime on a control panel free server and everything went smooth and easy. Plesk (and as I've heard most control panels) reworks a lot of web stuff and access rights.

Thanks for your reply, Daniel. The first several tries on Debian going through all install methods (each on a clean Debian installation) I didn't use sudo. After being utterly at my wit's ends I just tried it with sudo :).
