Just a quick follow-up, I backed up the base.html file, then removed all instances of {{ request.META.SCRIPT_NAME }} and everything worked perfectly. So I don't know what that variable is, but FastCGI does not like it.

I was able to reproduce this issue by wiping out the Booktype installation and cloning the git repo again. I am also using this init.d script to start Booktype: https://code.djangoproject.com/wiki/InitdScriptForLinux By the way, the repo is laid out…

I don't think it has anything to do with Nginx. This is part of the that Booktype returns when you visit it: As you can see, Booktype is specifically setting the path to "//site_static". Running with "runserver" works …
