Install problems on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS - the Lucid Lynx

    Hi

    Im getting the following error when I try to install Campcaster.

    QUOTE

    campcaster-studio:
    Depends: libboost-date-time1.38.0 (>=1.38.0-1) but it is not installable
    Depends: libicu40 (>=4.0-1) but it is not installable
    Depends: campcaster-station but it is not going to be installed

    END QUOTE

    Help appreciated

    hello,

    so, it seems, that Ubuntu 10.x does not have these packages installed(because they are old verions probably):

    libboost-date-time1.38.0
    libglademm-2.4-1c2a
    libicu40
    libserial0

    if we could manualy, by force, install these packages, then Campcaster should install properly.

    the questions is then: how to do that, i am not good with apt-get, synaptic and dpkg, any debian guru could help, please.

    i understand, this is a bit of dirty hack, but still - somehow working software s better than no software at all.

    well, i found a way to get campcaster to run on ubuntu 10.x

    you must install the missing packages manualy,

    go to http://packages.ubuntu.com/

    select to search all packages for all versions,

    then search for all the mising packages individualy,

    then select the exact version the campcaster needs,

    then download and install each package,

    then try to install campcaster.

    This shouldn't be necessary if the packages are rebuilt for lucid, so I
    expect you have been trying to install the karmic binary packages. The
    only official packages of Campcaster 1.4.0-beta4 were built for karmic,
    but the forthcoming 1.4.1 packages will be built for lucid LTS.
