Install on Ubuntu 16.04 LTS - Booktype Support Discussions on Sourcefabric Forum

Hi all,
I
would like to install Booktype on my Ubuntu 16.04 LTS server. At the
moment it seems that there is no such distribution under
http://apt.sourcefabric.org/.
Do you plan to offer one for automatic installation or is a manual installation your suggested solution?

Hi Peter,

That is correct, we do not have explicit support for Ubuntu 16.04, however the package is fairly generic and should work on any recent Debian or Ubuntu distro.

In addition to the apt repository, there are also daily snapshots at http://apt.sourcefabric.org/snapshots/ which can be installed with a program such as gdebi which will resolve dependencies for you.

Hi Daniel,

thanks a lot for your quick reply, I really appreciate your help.
I have tried using the trusty distribution on my server but that failed with the following message (translated by me as I have a German shell output):

booktype : Depends on: apache2-mpm-prefork but is not installable

So I guess the package resolution itself works when I use trusty.

The weird thing is that askubuntu told me that this dependency is installed, which I was able to validate: https://askubuntu.com/questions/808556/apache2-mpm-worker-missing-in-ubuntu-16-04

Do you or anyone else have any idea?

As that askubuntu thread already made clear: there is no apache2-mpm-prefork package any more in newer Debian/Ubuntu releases. The same functionality is provided by installing the apache2 server package.
Just someone needs to update the provided packages.
You could trick the package system into ignoring that requirement but that usually creates more trouble than you would want.
