New here and need help with adding webstream

    Hi All,
    I am loving Airtime 2.5.1. Its an amazing peice of software but I'm having trouble grasping the webstream part. I want to grab a stream from another station and broadcast it. I have the url as http://somename.somedomain.com:8000 and Airtime says its good. But when I add it to a show and the show goes live all I get is the id3 tags and no audio. Is this because there is no mount point? ie /listen on the end? I dont understand why Airtime says its a good url when it actually isnt.

    So you have to start answering this post from the last question.

    I don't understand why Airtime says its a good url when it actually isnt.

    Is there a playable stream there? can you play the stream from any other  media player like vlc etc.
    Is there any audio in the link ?

    But when I add it to a show and the show goes live all I get is the id3 tags and no audio 
    • The most obvious question is that are your speakers on!
    • how are you trying to listen to it ,via the listen button ? I hope not

    Most people now  are moving away from directory where the audio links are expose
    See Radio Nova example where by the tags are place on a website but the actual streams is somewhere else. My  favorite smooth Jazz station has employed that policy,but it not affect me since I was only a listener and I like to see the live show hosts .Some stations even employ geo-locking techniques .The idea is to reduce piracy and other streamers.

    So the $million dollar question is ,Do you have permission to get the stream from that station?


    Anyone reading this a find it funny about my grammar , I make no apology ,Go get a translator.

    @Voisses Tech Yes I do have permission. They are the ones who gave me the url.
    Yes the speakers are on. I've tried listening in VLC on my website and on a couple of android apps.
