after install, trouble with alias newscoop.local and newscoop.com login

    hello, just finished install of latest newscoop but having trouble...i got to the page that says You Are Done! Newscoop Successfully Installed etc. but then
    i get the following error at newscoop.local:

    Error: The site alias 'newscoop.local' was not assigned to a
    publication. Please create a publication and assign it the current site
    alias.

    but i also can't log in at newscoop.com to get to the admin dashboard; i used my email address and the password from the previous install phase...not sure if this related...please forgive my noobness.

    Go to newscoop.local/admin and login as admin
