Hello, I have done my fair share of RTFM and need some quick help / advice.
1: Library not updating.
I had to uninstall and reinstall to pick the new contents of the library. Not very practical when i need my guys to do quick links and insert into the playlists. My audio library is essentially stuck at the number of tracks it first scanned when it started.
2: Master source:
Butt is running, there is nothing in the input sound card because im having a headache with that. (getting butt to pick something from sound). Airtime has the orange line on the master showing that there is something connected. From my understanding it is meant to switch from playlist to the Master when i flip the switch, i was expecting to hear white noise or silence, not the track that is running in the scheduled play. Since i have not managed to get the line in getting sound into the sound card, im not sure if the output is dependent on there actually being sound, or if it is meant to flip and play some "silence" from the master regardless of what is in there. Kindly advise.
3: Last but not least, my setup is as follows: mixx + mics + 2nd comp for recording links=>Physical mixer=>machine2 butt => Airtime => audio out=> STL link => broadcast tower.
I intend to have the playlists organized and then use the Master switch to switch into a live mode (of sorts) where links from the studio are played interrupting normal play, and then flipped back to continous play. My ideal scenario would have been the master automatically interrupts whatever is playing whenever there is audio in the line without having to flip the switch.

Can you be more specific.? like What user (dj,program manager or admin) loads the song.? Check your /srv/airtime/stor/imported/ if your songs are being added. You might want to look in the problem folder. Check your /var/log/airtime/media-monitor/media-monitor.log to see any significant or strange occurrence Check your /var/log/airtime/pypo-liquidsoap/ls_script.log

you need to first click the play button to have butt disconnect, then change the settings in the soundcard

The switch is a transistional switch,Master===>Show====>Schedule_Play with top priority of source availabilty The Switch is not a toggle on/off switch Basically if one source is not available (Master) it will transistion to the next available (Schedule play in your case) without you moving the switch
If you want a white nose or silence (for talkover),create an appropriate jingle(white noise or silence) for this and place it in schedule play
Since i have not managed to get the line in getting sound into the sound card,
I have had success with my 2496 card and I document it here http://forum.sourcefabric.org/discussion/comment/26423. If you want I could walk you through this. Some people have had success with darkice and Jack. Since my main playout have rivendell with Jack i have not tested it. My test machine is out of space,I just acquire a portable drive to backup, clear it and reinstall, maybe I report soon.
im not sure if the output is dependent on there actually being sound, or if it is meant to flip and play some "silence" from the master regardless of what is in there.

I am not too sure what you meant by this !.Silence only occur when there is nothing schedule to play. Output is independent of anything else

Look in Stream settings Master section, there is an auto off and an auto off switch that does exactly that
Oh Finally always Read The Sourcefabric Manual (RTSM) not the RTFM. you might end up too tired to fix your Airtime. =))

Thanks, I have been reading the Sourcefabric manual... :-)
Just so that I am clear, when the following scenario is True: { Sound incoming to the soundcard, Butt parsing it correctly to Airtime, and Auto on / Auto off is set in Airtime, Playout from Airtime will be the soundcard input. } and when { no sound coming to soundcard, but still on, airtime Master still has orange link , Airtime will revert to lower priority => in my case scheduled play}
Does this mean Airtime will automatically fade in and fade out my input into the machine as and when sound signal comes through the soundcard? If true i can go sleep now. :-) {pulled all hair out of my head}.
Well just a little bed-time story b4 you go to bed,
You need a way to tell airtime that the master is no longer available ( that is in your case its silence).
The easiest is to install a silence detection software that will operate as an off/on toggle.
Just Google audio silence detection software and look for "pira" [They also have an active forum]
Install it on the machine that has butt, there is options to set, just tell it to kill butt on silence.
(you might find setting up a "bat" files to even shut the butt machine down as a suggested alternative]
This can also be done by
Setting up seperate liquidsoap on your playout machine (requires advance skills)
Modifying the ls-script and inject silence detection into it (but most people hate this thought)[intermediate] skill
Does this mean Airtime will automatically fade in and fade out my input into the machine as and when sound signal comes through the soundcard?
Yes,providing that you, stop the streaming client from sending a signal to airtime as describe above and this will switch(transition) to the next available source.note that the master light will also switch.
