Hi devs,

Here's what I've been using for database backup/restore in my tests on a
running Lucid system today, it seems to work:

$ sudo -u postgres pg_dumpall | gzip -c > airtime-backup.gz

(then purge and then re-install all postgresql and airtime packages)

$ sudo -u postgres dropdb airtime

(this drop is necessary to avoid 'already exists' errors when
overwriting the airtime skeleton database in the next step, which
prevent at least the user table from being restored)

$ gunzip airtime-backup.gz
$ sudo -u postgres psql -f airtime-backup postgres

If anyone knows a more elegant way to do this, please let me know. In
the meantime I will make a new page in the manual.

Something is backing my database up without me doing anything :s Is Airtime doing it?

If you run an upgrade, Airtime will perform a safety backup via include/airtime-upgrade.php:

exec("export PGPASSWORD=$password && pg_dump -h $host -U $user -f $target_path $database", $arr, $return_code);

$target_path is your home directory, or if that is not set, the /tmp directory.

This is no substitute for routine backups of a production database, of course, because you might only upgrade every one or two months.

Hehehe It was a cron job i set up to auto backup. I had forgotten it :(

Hey Daniel -- is it possible to simply and easily backup the listener stats page and other miscellaneous settings somehow but NOT the music db?

Hi Roger, I should think so, try using

pgdump -t table

in place of

pg_dumpall

Even more detail is available in the /application/models/airtime/map/ directory, for example https://github.com/sourcefabric/Airtime/blob/2.5.x/airtime_mvc/application/models/airtime/map/CcListenerCountTableMap.php has the details of the:

cc_listener_count

table.
