Hi, I am a novice in this area but I know joomla and manage the installation method is similar. Well, the problem is that when I put the name of the database, BDuser, pass, host, etc ... I give and I get error following page. I thought it was server error, but I have tried in various paid and free and all gives me the same error, I can not go in the installation of the database.
also I have had a lot of problems with installing Newscoop. I was running into the same problem like you.
It's strongly recommend to set the user to 'newscoop_user' and the password to 'newscoop_user_password' like suggested in the tutorial. And do not create a new database with a different name. During installation Newscoop will create a database named 'newscoop'. Take this database. There you have to change nothing.
Only with this steps I was finally successful to install Newscoop.
For your information : I installed Newscoop via terminal on Ubuntu.
Hello Peter, I put the user and pass you tell me but I´m only get a blank page. I´m trying to install via web on my hosting. I copied all the files and run the install typing www.mydomain.com/newscoop. Is this correct, isn´t it?? I don´t touch the apache configuration due to I don´t have permission to it.
I'm also new to Newscoop and sure not a specialist. I also tried first to install Newscoop on a shared server and was not very successful. Then I got a dedicated server from my web-host provider and finally I managed it.
To get a good result you've to made some settings in Apache for a perfect Newscoop installation I think.
