Hi,

I was wondering if you can help me, while be a newbie to Ubuntu and Airtime, I was able to get it setup on a test computer here at my house for playing with prior to us rolling it our for our DJ station. I can get Airtime to play schedule show with out a problem with files I have uploaded to the server, but my problem is I can't seem to connect to Master Source with program like Winamp using Edcast plugin / Edcast Standalone or BUTT which is what most of our DJ's will be using to stream. Just one thing tho I was able to connect using my copy of Traktor 2.6

I have Icecast 2.3.2 configure to listen on port 8084 and created 3 mount points only for the output, do I need to create mount points for Master Source and Show Source in Icecast?

Your help with this is greatly appreciated, I also check Airtime to make sure it is correctly installed and running and everything came back okay

take off the extension (.ogg) off your master port and the mount point in tracktor.

Some of these player do not support (ogg) to an encoder but rather they will connect ok when you stream directly to a server. (donot know why)

do like wise with dj

Also you could do a direct test from your tractor to the Icecast server by filling in the Icecast server information with a different mount point

Hi,
first, you don't need to add .ogg to the mountpoint.
You can just set "master" as mountpoint in Airtime-Preferences.
i think your mountpoint is wrong in edcast.
try to add a "/" in front of the value. in your case "/master.ogg

and try riocast or edcast-reborn or butt

Okay I remove the ogg from ,my Master Source and try connecting again with edcast and it still doesn't work (I am using edcast reborn). As I said earlier it work with Traktor no problems, but not BUTT or Edcast

did you prefix a slash "/" in front of the mountpoint? "/master" instead of "master.ogg"?
I cannot tell from your last screenshot...

the only difference your traktor and edcast-setting is that you use quality-level instead of bitrate in edcast-reborn.
try to change this to fixed bitrate or try with butt http://butt.sourceforge.net
I tried to reproduce your case with edcast-reborn, but it doesnt save changes of added encoders on my win8-notebook ;-(

Ok maybe I'm missing something with my icecast do I need to create a mountpoint in icecast for the master source and show source? I only created mountpoint for the outputs

No you do not need to create mount points in Icecast for master and show

from your screen shot you still have in encoder settings of edcast

/live.ogg remove the .ogg and also try with mountpoint as live
likewise for master remove the /

remember only one person at a time can connect to master or show,so if traktor is already attached to it you need to disconnect that broadcast before trying edcast.

do
sudo airtime-log -t liquidsoap

and change some music to see if the master is already connected
Show source are only available for schedule or created shows so make sure that you create a show first for show source to be available

You don't need to create mountpoints in Icecast. You already did this in Airtimes Stream-Preferences.
You say it works with Traktor, not with edcast.
Could you again post screenshots of your Airtime-Stream-Preferences and edcast-encoder-config-window to verify the correct settings?!
I still think it's an icecast-client-issue. Some clients expect different values. Sometimes with slashes or http:// prefixed.

Yes That true its a client issue but I do not think the mount point is the issue.

Notice at 23:22:47 and a number of other occasions the master did connect but it reported that the Feed stopped because its out of sync.

I will try and get a windoze computer and test with edcast,but I would recommend that they use M3W or Butt if you really need an emergency situation.

I just scan and saw that the benefits of using edcast have some to do with multiple input (not quite sure)
but I will look at this

I have had a few troubles streaming 192kbps or higher via m3w, but maybe just my testboxes hardware is too lousy...
So, I like to m3w, but I love my BUTT ;-)

Most interesting for me is, if you still can connect with Traktor while having troubles with other clients?

After looking again at your set up I think you have not grasp the concept of mount point and there in lies your problem.( I hope you not feel offended) but if we get that right then we are off to good start.

Earlier we suggest you remove the "/" from the mount points like traktor. so if you want to call your mount point "mystream" or whatever without the quotes or any slash then so be it mystream

do not use the mount point of

/mystream for mp3
or
/mystream.ogg

but just the word mystream when placing the mount point require for OS streaming tool like edcast,tracktor,butt,mixxx,m3w, etc.

in the last 3 paragraph of http://www.icecast.org/docs/icecast-2.2.0/icecast2_basicsetup.html about mount point are information that goes in the XML of icecast mount point

so fixed the mountpoint in edcast and you should good to go.
If you still have problem let me know.

you might ask how the client know is ogg.? then remember you set that in Airtime

so your mount point should be master for all your OS streaming tool

you can look at your connection to icecast by

tail -f /var/log/icecast2/access.log

and error logs at

tail -f /var/log/icecast2/access.log

use -v instead of -f for more verbose and detail information

Hi Voisses,

I`m not offended at all, I really appreciate all this help with my test server prior going into production for our Internet Radio Station.

I did remove the / for the Master Source a while back (see updated image), I even done the same on the clients and yet BUTT and Edcast will not stay connect but Traktor does.

Use

Master Port 8080
djshow port 8800
Your master and show connection url in Airtime does not match your mount points.This indicate that you click on the override button and fill it in manual.You should not have change it and these url should match your mount
The Master connection url should be http://yourcomputerIP:port/master in Airtime
The Show connection url should be http://yourcomputerIP:port/djshow in Airtime
After you save that come back to the settings and it will explain to you when you should change it,if you need to know.Note that if you done it right when you put in the information and click Save,it will automatically fill in the connection Url automatically.
I notice that for butt the IP address indicate a LAN so use that

also click on the butt play button and give me that screenshot.It will debug what is the problem.

Remember you have to save your setting s when you make the changes

give me also a snapshot of your icecast access and error logs

please change your settings of BUTT and edcast like shown in the picture below.

Just add a slash in front of the mountpoint only in BUTT and edcast!
Don't add a slash in Airtime-Preferences!!!

I'm sure this should solve your troubles.

Your master and show connection url in Airtime does not match your mount points.This indicate that you click on the override button and fill it in manual.You should not have change it and these url should match your mount
The Master connection url should be http://yourcomputerIP:port/master in Airtime
The Show connection url should be http://yourcomputerIP:port/djshow in Airtime
After you save that come back to the settings and it will explain to you when you should change it,if you need to know.Note that if you done it right when you put in the information and click Save,it will automatically fill in the connection Url automatically.
I notice that for butt the IP address indicate a LAN so use that

also click on the butt play button and give me that screenshot.It will debug what is the problem.
Remember you have to save your setting s when you make the changes

give me also a snapshot of your icecast access and error logs

While all of these points are right, this should not have effect on his problems.
Since @Trance%20Daddy 's Traktor is connecting without a problem!
Also the used Ports are ok to use.
In my opinion, he has not to change anything but prefix the "slash" client-sided.

Icecast-Error-Logs would be nice to see, but I'm sure they show nothing,
becuase in this case no source will be able to connect without this prefixed slash.

Why I ,do not want to assume that because @trance had traktor setup correctly then the same procedure will work for Butt and others,is that traktor may have ways to ignore certain information that Butt or others may consider important.

In programming they always say never assume that because when you compile and run you saw your program start it means that it will execute to the end.you have to test and test on various scenario and place error handling for most exception.

I think that is the case for @trance and so I wanted to make sure the basic is covered.

I did test where the mount points were different and got the out of sync error for OGG,but for Mp3 it never connects and so from the screenshots I notice the error.hence my conclusion.

I see the missing prefixed slash for mountpoint from his last screenshots in edcast & butt, so I suggested to change this first.
Until then, Trance Daddy willl never be able to successfully connect with butt or edcast.

I just hope @trance come on our side and follow you and my recommendations,not give up and can just make us happy to know another member of the Airtime family have succeed.

I do not use windoze osor any other streaming tools frequently so as it relates to the slash"/",I am glad you can point that out @hoerich .

For my MIXXX and BUTT, I use it without the "/" and its 99% accurate .,The other 1% a reboot takes care of.

That 1% is usual when I mess with something

Well I change my setting as per your recommendations, I did modify the port I was using for icecast from 8084 to 8100

Airtime Settings

As you can see BUTT just sit there and says connecting but doesn't seem to connect at all

I even try to connect from another computer here using BUTT with the same setting and it does not want to connect

** I realize why I 'm getting an error for the listen64.ogg.m3u mountpoint as I had a setting wrong in the output stream, I correct this.

So here it is we see that your Icecast is ok and that Airtime is connecting ok (HTTP/1.0" 200)

So its down to BUTT

Give me a snapshot/screenshot of but as it is now
also the sudo airtime-log -t liquidsoap log
give this log while butt say connecting
Now try and see if BUTT is connecting to anything by trying to connect to your ICECAST Server directly
by disable the listen 64 mount
Copy the information exactly as is in the Stream
Now try to connect from BUTT to your Ice Cast
give me the Logs

My objective is to see if BUTT is the problem

give me the screen shot of the BUTT, It usually have a debugg log on the front screen when it say connecting.

the screen shot shown here of BUTT is in an Idle state means the connect button is not press.

Also did you get it to connect to edcast.?

Your Problem is Port related.

It Appears your have two things trying to access the same port at the same time

The master indicates that there is a ogg stream connected to it at 21:42,which indicates to me that you did not stop the traktor or something else that is on port 8080

the BUTT lines Airtime connection should say something like this

Notice the decoder is audio/mpeg whilst yours is application/ogg

Even if your final stream from ICECAST is ogg the decoder will say audio/mpeg

which means that either you didnot press save on the stream settings when you change the configuration for the master or you still had something connected to the master when you click the connect button.

or Most likely you have not save your settings

follow my tutorial before and put say port 11000 in both butt and Airtime,then click save

I notice there was a problem with streaming mono files before 2:3 but this was fied and do not seem to be your problem .

Heyho,
I just had a look at your input-streams and tested your Master Source only...

but, I was able to successfully connect with butt, m3w & edcast for at least a one-minute-try.
Look at the screenshots to see the settings of the individual clients.

If you just want to stream internally in your LAN (not from Remote like I did right now),
then you just have to change the adress from "trancedaddy.bounceme.net" to the LAN-IP-Adress of your Airtime-Server, which in your case seemed to be "192.168.1.13".

I don't see any problems with input streams here.
If you encounter troubles furthermore, the problem has to be local at your LAN/PC/Laptop or Firewall.

I tried with edcast_standalone_3.1.21

the new riocast-versions are not working for me on win8 x64.

Please have a try with the same edcast-standalone-version as I did.
If it works, it works. And you shouldn't mind that this ain't the freshest release.

I don't even understand why you necessarily want to use edcast/riocast when BUTT is working?
What makes the differences for you? The foggy Limitter?

with Edcast you can stream to multi location at one time ... plus it integrate with Winamp and other application a bit better than BUTT and to me a bit more stable than BUTT
