Is Debian 7 (Wheezy) supported?

    I'm about to setup a (homebrew) dedicated server with Airtime. Should I stick with Debian 6 or Debian 7 will work fine with Airtime's Repo?

    I would defn recommend 7 over 6. However, the officially supported OS is
    Ubuntu 12.04.

    Thanks for the reply! I always preferred Debian over Ubuntu in my vps servers . There's always the notion that Ubuntu seem to be sitting heavier in RAM on a baseline load with the same stuff running. Although Ubuntu has more updated packages, Debian has bigger release lifesycle, so for a "set and forget" environment Debian seems  better than Ubuntu, without the fear that Canonical updates might bring more bugs than fixes!

    Is there a reason why isn't Debian also officially supported ? Package dependencies issues maybe?

    Actually Ubuntu has a much longer release cycle if you consider LTS. For
    example Ubuntu 10.04 released in 2010 will continue receiving support until
    2015.

    Debian Squeeze was released of 2011 February and will only be supported
    until next year.

    As for Ubuntu, historically it has had more media packages than what Debian
    had (this is important for Airtime obviously). Recently though, I believe
    they have reached parity in this regards.
