I did it and it still write me Error:
And I dont have the templates that the video maker has.
  • Hi Yair,

What did you set up as your Default Site Alias?

When you install Newscoop it prompts you to install the Journal template.

I would recommend to install Newscoop and select to install The Journal template.

It will give you a working environment that you can then tweak or replace with a different template.
  • I have the same problem, I have my domain eg Newscoop http://mydomain/newscoop within the directory I have my site. In http://mydomain/newscoop/admin/pub/aliases.php?Pub=2 assigned my alias, but I still get the same error:  Error: The site alias 'mydomain' was not assigned to a
publication. Please create a publication and assign it the current site
    alias.
  • Any Idea?????????????????? Please

see manual. You should add to aliases just mydomain w/o http or /
  • Wow what a friendly answers.
This question is reasonable one and nobody seems to give straight answer.

    Answer is this:

If your newscoop is in sub directory such as www.domain.com/newscoop/
Your site alias should be ------>   domain.com

Folder name "newscoop" will be added by the system automatically.
Also, do not put www or /

it's incorrect. Both domain.com and www.domain.com should be defined
  • i have the same problem, after installation, the button that directs me usarel administrator appears to me that there is no such address, and the frontend I get the site alias not applicable and that no publication has been asiganada still, and I tried installing the samples available . I would appreciate someone explain to me what I should do
  • hi jose,

do you get any error on /admin url or just blank page?
  • Helo Petr

I'm using: Ubuntu 12.04.1 --> Newscoop from repository of Ubuntu 4.0.2...

My first access to the admin interface from the last page of the instalation, with this URL:

    http://localhost/newscoop/admin

    I get this mesage:

    Not Found
The requested URL /var/lib/newscoop/admin.php was not found on this server.
Apache/2.2.22 (Ubuntu) Server at localhost Port 80

I think it can be a permisions problem, but I'm not sure. What can you say about this??
I've installed another CMS in "/var/www/***" and it work, (in this case is modx)

Of course first of all, thanks for your attention and for the excelent soft!!!

    Rolfo.-
  • Petr...

  • Hi...

    Thanks Andrey...

    Solved!!
I've the ".htaccess" but it was wrong. I don't have the line:

    ...
       RewriteBase /newscoop
    ...

I don't know why it desapears...

Thanks for all. And a question:
Is there some Spanish mailing list/forum ? I want to suscribe to it.

    Best for you
    Rolfo.-

  • Hi everybody,

I was trying to solve the problem on my own, but i couldn't do it :( So i really hope someone could land a hand.

What's happening with my newscoop installation is that when i try to access to the administration login page, i have the usual error i should have if i try to have the frontend displayed (Error: The site alias 'www.iocomunico.net' was not assigned to a publication. Please create a publication and assign it the current site alias.).

I found information about the publication assigning method, but the point here is that i can't even get to the admin panel.

My newscoop installation is in a subfolder of my website, in particular, www.iocomunico.net/news, but I don't think this is the problem since i can regularly find pages writing correct urls in my browser. Point is that newscoop always prompts me the error message... My host is www.aruba.it, I installed nescoop only uploading files and using the automatic procedure.

I haven't got any high informatics knowledge and i had to ask for support to my hosting service to solve some issues related to .htacces and writing permissions.

I want to use newscoop to make a news website, since i studied to be a journalist and I worked in a local newspaper for about 1 year and a half.

    Best regards,
    Sergio Procacci

    Ask your host supporter for:
    - option AllowOverride All in newscoop virtual host configuration
    - enabled rewrite apache module

  • Thank you, I'll write a message right now.
  • I've got a very similar problem to Sergio's. After I completed my installation (newscoop 4.1.0) and clicked on the 'Administrator' link, I just got an 'Internal Server Error' message. I went in and deleted (or renamed) the .htaccess file, and that gave me the 'site alias' error message shown above. This message appears whether I try to go to the site root or to the 'admin' address. As with Sergio, I can't change anything from the admin screen because I can't access it.

    The site address is http://zappa.uwl.ac.uk/~rolfea/newscoop/

    Thanks
  • There are multiple problems on this thread

    1. The site alias 'x' was not assigned to a publication. Please create a publication and assign it the current site alias.

For this problem : your site will usually be xyz.com or www.xyz.com or http://www.xyz.com or http:xyz.com

for each of these site names, first you must have chosen a template for your site
Go to configure, then themes, then assign a theme and give it the name of your publication, best to call it the domain name eg if it is xyz or xyz.newsroom

Note here when installing you do not need to install using the folder /newsroom

you can move all files in /newsroom to the root for your site easily to make life easier before install

    2. system htaccess errors are answered on the site in other threads, by searching htaccess you will see them
the next thing to do is Go to your admin panel
Go to CONTENT then to PUBLICATIONS
there you will see your site mentioned.

    XYZ.com for example

CLick on the Configure toolbox icon or click configure
here you will find various options.

the one you need is DEFAULT SITE ALIASES

select the option to edit aliases
add all the aliases you want and pick the specific one you used to set up your site as the default.

    END of problem 1
