Airtime 2.0.2 install problems (Debian&Ubuntu): Zend, root not accepted, dpkg
  • Hi

First off I have to admit that I'm no hero with Linux. Learned enough to get Icecast running using Ices0 for providing an automated playlist. Now I want to take it a step further and use airtime. But no matter what I try (apt-get, minimal install, full install) I always get stuck with two problems:
    - Problem with Zend
    - airtime-check-system breaks off during the root user check (seems to try /whoami, which won't work on Debian as it's just whoami there)

I'm running Debian Squeeze on AMD64

    Here's what happens:

    zulu1582:/home/airtime-2.0.2/install_full/debian# sudo ./airtime-full-install

  • I did a clean install of the Server to avoid running into problems with former airtime installation attempts.
    Still Debian Squeeze on AMD64.

I then followed the instructions at "Preparing the server" for Debian.
Then I followed the instructions at "Automated installation"

Here is the install error log:

PHP Warning:  require_once(): Unable to access Zend/Loader/Autoloader.php in /var/lib/airtime/tmp/install_minimal/inclu$
PHP Warning:  require_once(Zend/Loader/Autoloader.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/lib/ai$

No handlers could be found for logger "root"
    sh: /whoami: not found

Why would it have problems with root when I'm logged in as root? And what is the problem with Zend?

Hi Andreas, for Debian you should not use sudo, being root is enough. On Ubuntu, you do need to use sudo if there is no root user configured (the default). Cheers! Daniel

  • Thanks for your reply, Daniel.
The first several tries on Debian going through all install methods (each on a clean Debian installation) I didn't use sudo. After being utterly at my wit's ends I just tried it with sudo :).
  • Hi Andreas,

Sorry for taking us so long to reply :) What is the result when you do "whoami" from the terminal? I never saw a distribution without this command, but this appears to be the case with your setup. I've removed this command in 2.0.3, and replaced it with something that should work on your system.

As for the other problem with Zend, it looks like /usr/share/php is not in your default PHP include path, which is also something I've never seen before :). To verify this, can you please type

"php -a" from the terminal, and then type "echo get_include_path();" inside the new terminal that appears. Then paste that here.

  • Hi Martin,

I am working together with Andreas on this.

"whoami" responds with root, which is correct we're using a root account at the moment on Debian GNU/Linux 6.0.4 (squeeze) (squeeze) on amd64 architecture (that's what the installer identifies).

Since using a SSH connection a second terminal for PHP is not possible unfortunately, I tried to look it up manually, but couldn't find the right spot. The folder structure for PHP however relies in /usr/share/php - and since it was installed from scratch relying on apt-get I'd say it's a default config as well.

Still running into the "you are not root" error in the installation though which Andreas posted above. After the installation some airtime processes are running:
    root 18978 1 0 10:16 ? 00:00:00 python -u /usr/lib/airtime/media-monitor/MediaMonitor.py
    pypo 19013 1 0 10:16 ? 00:00:00 python -u /usr/lib/airtime/pypo/bin/pypo-cli.py
    pypo 19016 1 3 10:16 ? 00:00:37 /usr/bin/liquidsoap --verbose /usr/lib/airtime/pypo/bin/liquidsoap_scripts/ls_script.liq

Getting access to airtime is not possible.

  • Ok I looked at the system. The Zend problem should be gone. For some reason your php include_path was "." instead of ".:/usr/share/php" (edited this in php.ini). Not sure why php can't call "whoami", but if you upgrade to 2.0.3 then this problem should disappear.

  • Thx a lot for removing the root check, airtime-check-system now works :D

Depending on which method of installation I chose we got new problems:

    1. in /etc/php5/cli/conf.d/imap.ini change # to ;
    2. in /etc/php5/cli/php.in set safe_mode = off
    3. run sudo apt-get autoremove --purge postgres.*

-- There appears to be a problem with your Airtime installation.

I wonder if that is the same issue from earlier when the installation broke up because 2.0.2 didn't recognize me as root.
  • Why does it say "Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS x86_64 "  when you mentioned you have Debian Squeeze installed?

  • In an earlier post I mentioned that we were trying several things to rule out that our problems are related to the kind of Linux or the server provider. The login information I sent you via PM were for the Ubuntu server that is currently not in production and can be reinstalled and experimented on. My colleague Matthias was trying out some things on the Debian machine, I am currently working on the Ubuntu one.

As we plan on using the Ubuntu server for our webradio as soon as we get airtime running I will only post our problems with the installation on Ubuntu. Matthias ran into the same "root"-problem on Debian. I am sorry about the confusion :(.
  • The problem was Plesk. Tried installing airtime on a control panel free server and everything went smooth and easy. Plesk (and as I've heard most control panels) reworks a lot of web stuff and access rights.
  • Glad to hear its been sorted out :)

  • Huh... Airtime is so fastidious.

Deb Squeeze 64 bit with Direct Admin environment, php5.3 + Zend Engine API version 220090626, during Airtime 2.0.3 minimal installation gives this:

PHP Warning:  require_once(Zend/Loader/Autoloader.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /root/airtime/install_minimal/include/AirtimeInstall.php on line 7
PHP Fatal error:  require_once(): Failed opening required 'Zend/Loader/Autoloader.php' (include_path='/root/airtime/install_minimal/include/../../airtime_mvc/library:.:/usr/local/lib/php') in /root/airtime/install_minimal/include/AirtimeInstall.php on line 7
There was an error during install. Exit code 255

Who can help me find a needle in a haystack? :)

  • Did you run airtime-full-install from airtime/install_full/debian?

If so, were there any errors generated before the one you posted?

  • Please wait for the Airtime 2.1 version which will be released on Tuesday (or download the RC today). This problem should be solved there.

  • This is very good news. :D
