Newbie needs help with live remote broadcast
  • Hello everyone. Hoping someone can help me out with a few questions I have.

I am creating an internet radio station. I will be setting up airtime directly on our severs. I have run through the demo a few times and gone through the manual but im still a bit confused about how to setup a live broadcast from a remote site using an internet connection. Here is what i would like to do:

    a) Setup the Calender within airtime to switch from pre-progrmmed shows to a live broadcast from a remote location then have airtime go back into the pr-progrmmed show at a specific time. How would I set this up? Is this possible?
    (example) 10:00am to 11:00am Pre-programed show
11:00am-12:00pm switch to live broadcast from remote location
    12:00pm switch back to pre-programed

    Can this be completely automated?

b). How do I setup live remote broadcast in Airtime?

c). I love the fact that Airtime has the record to soundcloud function, however can this function be used to record to a different site with the same functions?

I hope someone can help me out with this. Looking forward to your responses.

  • Thanks Albert for the info.

In regards to stream-handover. How does the "fallback-mount" work exactly? If I begin broadcasting from a remote sight sending audio signal back to the server will Icecast automatically switch to the live remote broadcast wants it detects the audio signal.

    From the link:
The Icecast server has a fallback-mount
feature which can be used to move clients (media players used by
listeners or viewers) from one source to another, as new sources become
available. This makes it possible to handover from Airtime scheduled
output to a live show from another source, and handover to Airtime again
once the live show has ended.

    that's exactly that ;)
  • Awesome. Even though it would be nice to have the Airtime calender handle the switch between signals this sounds like it will work just as good.

    Thanks for your assistance Albert!

in fact is already possible ;)
but only if you have a connected soundcard on your server (and the hardware behind) :)
  • Unfortunately Airtime will be running on a datacenter server not an in-house server so we wont have any soundcards on them.
