Upgrading Newscoop 3.6.0 RC1 to RC2 and about Zen Theme
  • Hi developers,

I'm really sorry if I post my issue on the wrong list.

#iianm, the upgrade process from Newscoop 3.6.0 RC1 to RC2 are just:

1.Backup the current Newscoop site folder and its database.

    2. Copying the extracted RC2 tar ball into the Newscoop installation
path (my case is in /user/share/newscoop):
    # cp -r /home/user/Downloads/Newscoop/newscoop-3.6.0-RC2/* /usr/share/newscoop/

    then,

    3. Open Newscoop admin page, so this will automatically upgrade the
current active Newscoop site to the new one.

    This is my upgraded result:

    ##My questions are:

    1. Does it so that simple?
2, (newbie's question actually) How to activate Zen theme (announced,
new feature) on this RC2 release? Because I could not find the
interface/tool in Newscoop admin page to activate it[0].

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards,

  • Hi Andi,

Thanks for reporting this issue. I've checked both versions, tested upgrading, and found out that this is a bug we've already fixed for Newscoop 3.6 RC3.

But if you don't want to wait for RC3, I can offer you a manual solution to this problem:

    - Backup everything as usual.
    - Copy install/sample_templates/zen/templates/set_zen directory from RC2, to themes/unassigned in your installation. (You should end up with [your_installation_path]/themes/unassigned/set_zen).
    - Open your Newscoop administration panel, and you should be able to see Zen theme in themes, and assign it.

Please let us know how it goes.

OK, I can now see the Zen theme:

and, so how to activate it?

Btw, what is the purpose of the radio button on that theme page while
the 'Actions' menu can do the jobs?
