Could Airtime and IceCast2 use a IceCast fallback mount to do the following?
Airtime server is started, and begins broadcasting to /airtime so anyone who connects to a mount called /radiostream hears the /airtime stream.
A live source connects to IceCast server on mount /live, the /radiostream mount point immediately "plugs in" to /live, so anyone who connects to /radiostream hears the live broadcast.
When your live source disconnects from /live, the /radiostream mount point immediately falls back to /airtime (which continued playing though nobody could hear it).
Basically looking for transitioning between live broadcasts and the airtime, with no silence or admin/operator needed in between.
This can be done with no problem at all, this is the setup we use for our station. It is all configured in /etc/icecast/icecast.xml
You will want to make use of the allow-override feature of icecast to ensure your live stream cuts in correctly. If you define separate usernames for the live mounts it gives you an element of access control and you can also define a jingle to be automatically played when the jingle cuts in.
For more info, do a search for 'icecast fallback' and there are a few tutorials out there.
when you say "our station" - do you have a URL? here at sourcefabric, we are happy to hear about Airtime in action. and we are also collecting "testimonials" for our product page. so if you have something good to say about Airtime, please do: micz[dot]flor[at]sourcefabric[dot]org - or post it here
