Using jingles
  • Hi,

I need to have jingles incorporated into my Airtime 24x7 stream. I've found this page: http://wiki.sourcefabric.org/display/CC/Playing+Jingles+or+Ads+on+15+Minute+Intervals

But I have _no_ idead how to make this work with airtime, as I cant find any scripting options within airtime. Where can I read more about this? Any tutorials out there?

  • Thanks VT, however - where & how do I use these scripts? Do I need to set up a cronjob to run it, or how do I make it interact with Airtime?

I wish there were some documentation on the use of these scripts :-)

From the script example, it looks like it will pick random music from the storage directory. Does that mean that it wont use the playlists in Airtime any longer, or how should I understand that part?

  • Hi Jesper J
Let Me answer these questions in terms of relevance

    • I wish there were some documentation on the use of these scripts?

copy and print  the first part of this tutorial

    http://forum.sourcefabric.org/discussion/comment/26265#Comment_26265

it covers the case relevant to Airtime.Remember you need to be familiar and have knowledge with editing at the command line  in linux

You can find the language here
http://savonet.sourceforge.net/index.html pay attention to the cookbook and examples,Please do not just copy and paste from savonet, you will break airtime ,you need to familiar with the differences

    • Do I need to set up a cronjob to run it, or how do I make it interact with Airtime?

No this is a modification of the Airtime script and run alongside it

    • where & how do I use these scripts?

This is a backup script for when nothing is schedule (autodj).

If you want to use these directory in airtime ,place them as watch folder in your media folders and then build your playlist from the library  http://sourcefabric.booktype.pro/airtime-25-for-broadcasters/media-folders/

  • Hi again VT,

I appreciate you taking the time to try and explain it to me. I've located the scripts in /usr/lib/airtime/pypo/bin/liquidsoap_scripts - especially the ls_script.liq.

Do I edit that file in particular, and use something from the example on https://forum.sourcefabric.org/discussion/comment/26265#Comment_26265 ?

Or - do I add the example script (modified to suit my needs of course) - to the directory, in a separate file?

I found this: http://savonet.sourceforge.net/doc-svn/complete_case.html  - it looks interesting, but very different from the original content in the ls_script.liq - so Im guessing its a separate script, as ls_script.liq seems to handle different things.

I cant find entries in the manual on how to use liquidsoap scripts :/
