Preview/Audio Player
  • OK! So browser codec support is obviously fragmented for reasons beyond control.

    Safari seems to support ALAC, AAC, and MP3 natively, but FLAC is MIA. Not too surprising.

    Firefox basically previews OGG files exclusively. FLAC support is remarkably missing for some odd reason or another.

    How about replacing the weird Flash fallback mechanisms with something like this?


    Flash could be dumped — especially useful for mobile platforms — and codec support would be better and more uniform across browsers. Might be useful for the public-facing embedded web player refresh as well.
