I'm new to Campcaster but am considering using it at our college radio
station (Tufts University, WMFO 91.5 FM Medford). I am currently running a
64-bit version of Ubuntu 8.10. Since my computer conforms to the AMD64
architecture, the i386 packages currently available for Campcaster will not
install. Is there a 64-bit version of the software available, or are there
plans to make one available soon? Alternatively, is there a good tutorial
for compiling Campcaster manually that I could use to create my own 64-bit
version? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
I'm sorry that I can't personally be more of assistance on the question of
an x64 version (I've only got a 32-bit machine), but in theory it should
be the same as the steps for the 32-bit version.
I've made packages for the 32-bit version, and the first step is to
install the development environment, as described on this page:
I'm pretty sure that for Ubuntu the 64-bit packages have the same names as
those in the 32-bit version, so everything should be the same.
Please note, however, that we haven't been able yet to get a version
running under Ubuntu Intrepid, only under 8.04 LTS "Hardy". So it would be
necessary at this point to install Hardy.
Once you have the development environment installed and running, the next
step would be to create the packages according to the package release
process documentation page, which is here:
Please let me know how things go; we'll be more than happy to host the
packages if you're successful in making them.
Best regards,
douglas

Daniel, this is great news! This is probably the fourth most-requested item on the support list. You just made lots of 64bit folks out there real happy!
