I am trying to get an Ubuntu 7.04 box running campcaster ready to hook
up to a transmitter tomorrow. I am having a problem getting sound out of
our SoundBlaster Live sound card. Moreover Campcaster is hanging up when
I try to test the card.
Unfortunately I did not build or configure this machine. I'm a volunteer
who inherited the job. We are scheduled to hook the box up to the
transmitter (at a remote shared facility) tomorrow, so I need to get to
the bottom of this.
Campcaster appears to be running fine. The Preview feature (using the
built-in Intel sound card) works fine. But I can't get any sound out of
the Soundblaster card.
The Soundblaster card correctly shows up as hw:1,0 in the Studio Options
Sound tab. (And this corresponds to the device number I get when I do a
cat /proc/asound/cards:
One clue that there is a problem is that I get no sound when I click on
the Test button on the Options/Sound tab. And if I click a second time,
Campcaster hangs up.
I don't see anything in the manual about configuring this other than in
the Studio Options Sound tab. Did I miss something?
I am unable to make any sense out of the alsa-project.org site. The
Howto is for programmers, not users. Other links that look promising are
broken.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
- John
