The computer that I am installing it on does not have internet access, so I have downloaded the .deb packages and used a flash drive to sneaker-net the packages to the computer in question.

To make a long story short, there is a problem somewhere, because libpango IS already installed on the system, so it should not be an issue. I even downloaded a "new" copy of the libpango package and installed it (in case there were some form of updates on it) but ended up having the same problem.

    Hi Satty,

Yes, unfortunately, Campcaster 1.1.1-2 depends on libpango1.0-0 version
1.12.3 or higher; Ubuntu 6.06 comes with 1.12.2. You can download the
    newer version from here:
    http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/p/pango1.0/libpango1.0-0_1.12.3-0ubuntu3_i386.deb
I think, but I'm not absolutely sure, that this is the only extra
    package you need.

A better solution, if you can connect to internet temporarily, is to
enable the "dapper-updates" repository, and then do an upgrade.

Next time you install Dapper, please install the "service pack" version
6.06.1 (http://releases.ubuntu.com/6.06.1/); that one comes with
    libpango1.0-0 version 1.12.3.

  • THANKS!!!

I missed the "version" part of the package name. When I was propted about the dependancy issue by the system, there was no mention of the version, either, just the package name...

I appreciate your assistance with the info, link and advice. I'll be sure to print out your reply for future reference. FWIW, I am a new Ubuntu user, but not a new Linux user. I have been running Mandrake/Mandriva on my desktop for over 4 years now. There a more than a few things that Ubuntu does differently, but I am catching on. Wink

    Thanks again!!

Well I downloaded the package you linked me to, but when I went to install it, I had yet another unresolved dependancy: libpango-common. So I downloaded that, but it claims to need libpango before it will install! So they seem to be dependant on each other, and neither will install! :-/

Any other suggestions, or am I going to be forced to get it connected to the web somehow...

    Thanks again!
