[campsite-support] problem uploading large (>5mb) attachments
  • Hi,

I tried uploading a relatively large (5.5 mb) video file today as an
attachment, but got an error after waiting a long time (around 5-10 min).

I've changed php.ini to allow a maxFileSize of 512 mb, so that shouldn't
    be the problem.

The error I get from Campsite simply says that an error occurred on the
file upload, so it wasn't much help in determining where the problem
    occurred. Is it a timeout?

Any pointers you guys might have would be greatly appreciated.

Also, there isn't a progress indicator showing how far I've gone and how
far I have to go. Having something like that would help to ease a lot of
the uncertainty that can go into uploading big files. Not a must-have, but
a really, really nice one to have...

  • Hi Doug,

Sorry for my late reply. I don't know why the upload of larger files doesn't work for you. Are you sure you set the correct setting in the php.ini configuration file? Did you restart apache after that? Do you have have enough space on the partition?

If you would give me access to your system I'd try to debug and find out why it doesn't work. It surely is not a problem of timeout, at least from Campsite's point of view: the upload script is run by apache only when the upload was done. Apache handles the file transfer and only after it was completed the script is run. That is why it's impossible to implement a progress indicator, this is a feature that only the browser can implement.
