Yuck. I thought #1468 (or at least half of it) was fixed, and I
re-added some extra-cautious error checking in the storage client. But
it's not fixed, so the error checking fails every time. The bottom
line: the gui does not work at all in 1.0.2, and the release will need
to be regenerated. Sorry.

what do you mean? it works on my machine, compiled from source (and via
the gentoo ebuilds...)
or you're saying that the .debs will have to be re-released? yes, those
will have to be...
Even so, there seems to be a problem with gLiveSupport connecting to files
in the StorageServer. It's in Bug #1487, which we thought was fixed but
somehow has reappeared. It's assigned to Sebastian, but I don't know if
he's really the person who should take a look at it.

I have those packages, and I purged the old ones before.
I tryed follwing "mix-configuration" to figure out which packages makes
trouble:
livesupport-libs: 1.0.2-1
livesupport-station: 1.0.2-1
livesupport-studio: 1.0.1-2
This caused same error.
Downgrading all packages to 1.0.1-2 does not work unless i do a dpkg --purge
to the packages. Elsewhere i get "GStreamer-ERROR **: No default scheduler
name - do you have a registry ?"
on start of gLiveSupport.sh

yes, after spending about 2 hours to get these here to Johannesburg, I
found the same
I hope Sebastian is going to make proper packages.....

this won't work.
and when you build packages, all get built anyway.
pease, Sebastian, do make those packages. we're sitting here like ugly
ducks, always having to make excuses, and we can't build the packages
here, because of lack of connectivity. and we've asked for this already
on Monday...
just to give you a hint: I can build them on my home machine in
Budapest, download them here (takes about 2 whours with the bandwiths
available here), move it to Doug's machine (when he's not using it), and
then try it.
this cycle is almost a day - whereas with ccache it only takes about 1
hour to recompile, and you can test it right away...
Just a hint: the download of the new relesaed ones from SF was around
3kb/sec here too. Than the createPackage.sh breaked some times due to
package miss, so I just can hope the current run goes until the end.

Seems OK (after some very-non-exhaustive testing: uploaded and played
one mp3 and one ogg on the Knoppix 3.8 installed from the 1.0 live CD).
