    hi michael, doug, akos,

i moved this to the dev list Wink

the question is: what happens when i boot the machine from the install CD
    of livesupport.

the reason i move this to the dev list: i don't really know...

    NETWORK
    ---------------------------
    use scenario A:

2 machines for livesupport. one the datastorage / remote admin and one for
the live mode in the studio.

    what do i do?

    a) install the datastorage with the install CD. set the network
configuration have an IP address. all is fine.

    b) install the studio live machine with the install CD. so NOW the install
process needs to ask me: where is the datastorage? what's the IP? what else
does it need to ask? how to connect to postgresql?

    ---------------------------
    use scenario B:

1 mighty machine with the one in all.

does the install now only need one IP address???

    SOUNDCARD
    ---------------------------
during the installation process, how can i determine the use of which
soundcard? the maximum number will be three in one machine (not recommended
but possible in use scenario B).

    1. live for transmission
    2. preview for DJ
    3. scheduler for transmission

does the install process ask you which to use for what and how will you
decide if they are all the same? does it play sounds and asks you what to
do with the one that just beeped?

I booted our first Knoppix with live support integration (Studio
    to Go  Fervent Software).

Here are some of my beginners experiences .

    From Live CD boot:

From my experience, during the first live cd boot , the system
    recognized both of my soundcards

and allowed me to controll them individually from linux system
    mixer.

    Vmware install from Windows:

I haven't seen default working soundcard, network card (NAT) and
disks in the system , right away

(I suppose because I didn't install StudioToGo on hard disc? Or
    did I miss something?), and I haven't

found Live Support application in Start panel. But I suppose that
Live Support system is not completely

integrated yet into the live cd, and that is why I don't see it ?

  • well. I was awaiting some clarifications here too.
I refer to it as introduced by debian-packages and install flavours as
studio (the GUI) and station (scheduler, webinterface, storageserver ...
    all the rest..)

    - its obvious the studio needs a (configured) remote host to connect to

    - for a station setup (as well as including the studio) this is
reasonable configured via localhost. web interface asks for more
    necessary setting on first login.
as far as I see, this is usable as such locally and remotely (assuming
the system has an ip) ... so we are fine? or would this need more
    configuration?
