    hi doug,

    you are right. it falls between the cracks, but i think it is important.
    the demo server is only for people test and feel the admin interface. the
    prime objectives are:

    a) easy for michal to administrate
    b) runs livesupport

    it really does not matter what linux distribution is on there. and i guess
    the sound will pipe to dev NULL anyway, as you don't want the same songs in
    the test playlists in your office over and over Wink

    so it sounds to me as if the VMware with whatever linus runs livesupport is
    the best solution.

    the dev server is a different issue of course, but that's also an entirely
    independent question.

    I have to disaggree with you on this one. as I wrote to Doug earlier,
    the purpose of the demo server should be two-fold, IMHO: for people to
    see how it works, and for us to see if it works. people playing around
    with the demo server would provide a lot of free testing input for us.
    but for this to be worthwhile, it should be the same system that's going
    to be our final system.

    let's not confuse the terminology here - we already have a development
    server, that's ls-dev. it's not a test/deployment machine, but aids the
    development efforts.
