[campsite-support] Fw: Smarty - which version is used in Campsite?

    Hi

I am in the process of reinstalling our
campsite-server and was wondering if the version of Smarty used by Campsite really
is v. 2.6.18? If this is the case will it be possible to upgrade Smarty to the
newest version instead of the old one? (Security issues is my worry)

  • Hi,

Yep, we're using 2.6.18, you can upgrade it in your installation
though, I run latest stable 2.6.26 locally and the upgrade process was
    straight forward.

Download 2.6.26 tarball, unpack it and copy relevant files like this:

    $ cp -a /path/to/latest_smarty/Smarty-2.6.26/libs/*
    /path/to/your/campsite_document_root/include/smarty/

Thank you for pointing this out, I'll upgrade it for next release.

    Best,

  • Hello Holman,

Thanks for the information, but there are apparently several using
Campsite who have no shell access.

So how would someone without shell access upgrade?

    Cheers,

    Pippa
  • Hi,

today the person updating the news site reported me that he can't
access the admin tools (front end looked fine back then).
Unfortunately I could look very quickly the site then and I saw the
bug report screen where should be admin login. Now the whole site is
not connected, Firefox giving error "Firefox can't establish a
    connection to the server at..."
I did report this to the people taking care of the server as well but
since I saw some errors in the error log (look below), I decided to
tell you folks too in case there is something alarming or need to be
    fixed in the installation.

    Best regards,

    Sanna

  • The server space had ended... with quite radical results indeed.
About the error messages in log: are they related in your opinion for
the space issue or other problems?
Still wondering how the empty 2Gb suddenly went away...

  • Hello Generare,

I suspect it may be something similar to what ate up server space on
the installation of Campsite I am currently building: php-generated
    mail in huge numbers.

Check your mail inbox, not just that of your specific email account,
check the *server email adress* which usually defaults to your basic
server name. You just might find some 2 GB worth of 900 bytes-sized
    emails.

A first solution, after deleting those mails, is to create an incoming
serverwide email filter which filters out these mails before they are
written to the harddisk. In my client's case a mere three weeks was
sufficient to fill up some 200-250 MB!

That filter will stop the disk from filling up, but of course the
mails themselves, sent every 30 seconds in our case, are eating up
    server ressources quite needlessly.

    Cheers,

    Pippa
  • Hi Pippa,

While Holman ponders the reply for FTP users, FYI the new version of smarty
will come as standard with the 3.3.3 release (i.e. it's already been
    implemented, pls. see http://trac.campware.org/campsite/ticket/3015)

    All the best,
