best way to get Superdesk + Publisher: a few questions - Web Publisher Discussions on Sourcefabric Forum

Dear all,

I'd like to get Superdesk + web publisher installed together. There are a few bits of information here and there but what I would really appreciate is instructions for a standalone installation (no Docker) of both products.

On a recent thread Rafał suggests that "you need to install Superdesk from sdsite branch ".

If I use the Superdesk install script (https://raw.githubusercontent.com/superdesk/fireq/files/superdesk/install) and set sdsite as the repository name, instead of 1.0, would that work?

I have tried the above installation but Publisher doesn't install/run correctly.

What are the steps to make the Publisher work after it is installed, in order to be able to utilize it? I mainly want to output to Files.

Superdesk Publisher is in fact separate application but build with integration with Superdesk in mind. Code can be found here: https://github.com/superdesk/web-publisher

To work with Superdesk + Publisher (and have publisher management UI) you need to use sdsite branch.

I'm confused as well. Is Publisher a separate installation from the Superdesk installation? When stepping through the Web-Publisher installation steps I get errors from step one.

We're trying to push to a WordPress site and have the WordPress plug-in installed on our site but are at a loss for what to do next. How do we install Publisher in Superdesk? Is it now a part of Superdesk's main installation?

I do not have what I understand to be an outside service called Publisher installed. I am using the Subscriber setup and setup up with the information provided in my Wordpress Publisher plugin.

Thanks a lot for your replies! I've decided to use the 'native' Publisher of Superdesk for now, and keep an eye on Web Publisher for future use, since what I want can be achieved through existing Subscriber's (File/Email/Ftp etc)

Thanks for your reply Pawel. We are able to publish articles to our Wordpress site using the built in Subscribers. This does answer our current needs but we will be very interested in using the full features of the Publisher application. We are working with several small local newspapers and they have the desire to share one UI and share (Publish) articles to other papers.

I'm unfamiliar with how to use your Gist script in automating the Publisher installation but will begin looking into how I can figure that out.

Got around to using the install script of Pawel's. It seems to have done the trick - no errors.

Solved the previous driver issue. The web-publisher/app/config/parameters.yml file was looking for postgres ver 9 and I had 10 installed.

Now I'm getting 'fs_sendauth: no password supplied

About fs_sendauth error - it looks like your postgres authorization issue (maybe you try to connect as root and it's not allowed to do this without password?).

Have installed Superdesk and SuperDesk-Publisher on 2 different servers(ubuntu 16.04) using the steps in

After updating the config file (config.js and config.e34553.js) on
Superdesk , Superdesk fails to load in the browser , the network tab of
the Firebug shows "Module 'superdesk-publisher' is not available! "

The URLs of the set up are as follows :

Superdesk : http://ec2-13-233-253-231.ap-south-1.compute.amazonaws.com/

Superdesk-Publisher : http://ec2-13-233-89-104.ap-south-1.compute.amazonaws.com/

** on reverting back the config files to original Superdesk works fine.

Please help !!!
