We've recently upgraded to version 2.7.0-rc5 from 2.6.7 and we have a problem with posting comments on article. Whenever somebody tries to post a comment, he gets a message :
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /var/campsite/www-common/html/comment_lib.php on line 153
No idea about the error, but i will try to re-create the environment
and see what happens.

hi holman, thnx for reply, any luck with my problem maybe? I've look at it
more, and the thing is, if already there is a comment posted on certain
articlem you cant post new comment with no problem, but if that is the first
comment for the article, error message is given. I reckon that it's a
problem with object initialization, but thats all I've figured.
This usually happens when:
- a campsite user posts a comment;
- the user has a campsite account;
- in the phorum_users table there an account with the same email address
exists but it was not synchronized with the campsite user table.
Please select the action "Users->Synchronize Campsite and Phorum Users" from
the admin menu and check if this fixes your problem.

That is not the case here, I get an error message when trying to post, and
user is not logged in, and his email do not exists in database. I've
synchronized campsite and phorum users, didnt do anything, shoud I restart
campsite or the effect should be immediate?
in above mentioned case the problem was caused by records in campsite
Users table. Older version has no protection and allowed user to have
any email. It was even possible to have the same email for multiple
users. And there is a problem. After some upgrades comments started to
require single email address per user and this error was displayed due
to existence of email duplicities.
My solution of the problem was simple. I modified all emails in users
database to use email that has no duplicity and performed user sync to
phorum.
That fixed the problem.

Ondra, that fixed the problem again . I've tracked down and eliminated
duplicates, did the sync, and now comments work. Thank you very much guys,
hope I didn't bother you too much
try this:
- backup your database
- delete all the entries in phorum_users table
- run "Users -> Synchronize Campsite and Phorum Users" in the admin area
test again and let us know how it goes, thanks!

Glad to hear that. You just trained my memory. In the middle process
of remembering I promised myself to start filling the knowledge base

Nice to hear that. How about that knowledge base known as Campsite manual?
A comment in the upgrade area would be most helpful, if not an outright
editing of the upgrade section of the manual.
In any case, thanks for the helpful feedback.

Not really, they get incorporated in the manual eventually, and plus that's
the first place many people look first for info. At least you'll know it's
there

Still having problem with administrating comments, when I try to approve
some of the comments two or three days ago, I get URI too large 414 error,
any ideas?
Please rewrite:
/admin-files/comments/index.php
with the attached file.
It was a bug we fixed to 2.6.9 but wasnt committed to 2.7 and 3.0
Thanks for reported it.
