Airtime 2.3 - complete with localizability (is that even a word?), Icecast/SHOUTcast listener statistics and ReplayGain improvements - is officially launched tomorrow, but we wanted to give you all a heads-up first. It’s ready now...
Thanks to anyone who helped out with a localization (hello Luciano De Fazio, Sebastian Matuszewski and Albert Bruc!), or with testing the betas and release candidates. If you’d like to see Airtime’s interface translated into your language, here’s how you can contribute a localization.
apt-get is all set, so users who installed via that method will be upgraded automatically.
As always these guides can be used to either install for the first time or to manually upgrade.
Airtime 2.3 offers the following improvements...
- The interface is now available in Chinese, English, French, German, Italian, Korean, Russian, Polish, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Czech. - Stations can now translate the interface themselves. - Listener Statistics allow stations streaming on the web via Icecast & Shoutcast to track how many people are tuned into the station. - Airtime scans newly imported tracks for leading/trailing silence and automatically sets cue points to avoid silence. - ReplayGain, a tool that enables all audio to be broadcast at a consistent volume level can now be switched on and off, plus offset in real-time. - Liquidsoap memory footprint improvements mean better streaming performance. - There is a new user management page for non-admin users.
To see all 250 changes (well done Martin and team!), check the changelog.
So, have a great World Radio Day everyone! So fantastic to see so many different users from all over the world, all joined together by a passion for radio. Hopefully we can meet a few of you in person tomorrow!
Quality update! What works so far with Airtime 2.3...
Our modified liqudsoap script
It does a better job detecting the up coming silence, so there is less failback to our script.
What we are not keen on...
The calendar displays an ! if the schedule is not fully used e.g. in some of our shows 7 seconds is not filled. When we reloaded our calendar, it took us by surprise we though all the content was wiped or our library got wiped.
What we are trying to get working...
It is not essential but the listener stats would be great to get but our streaming service provider already has this solution. The only issues with our provider is that the ip address resolution is not as accurate as possible.
When adding a Webstream to a Show, the Webstream is correctly broadcasted and the ON-AIR-Light is On. When adding a Webstream to a Playlist and add this Playlist to a show, nothing is broadcasted and the ON-AIR-Light is Off.
I just want to add Jingles, Webstreams & SmartBlocks in one Playlist and add this playlist to a show. Do I missunderstand something, or is this a bug?

I just stumpled upon this behaviour once, and could not say, if just the ON-AIR-Light went off or also the Broadcast went off-air. I'll check this the next days...
