- Ubuntu Server 10.04 Lucid (recommendation up to date?)

- running on remote Virtual Private Hosting Server (VPS)

- to install Artime 2.1.3 (and nothing else)

- local : iMac OS X Mountain Lion

Please help me pointing out what may cause the issue described at the end of this thread.

Here after is a step by step summary of what should be done to install airtime.

I highlighted 6 QUESTIONS related to instructions that I could have misunderstood.

01- sudo apt-get install nano

1 don't forget "universe" in your sources.list
2 for postgresql is automatic, but you can change it if you want
3 d'ont modify icecast.xml, airtime do that with you when you configure it
4 no final point
5 icecast and airtime must have the same hostname (if they are installed on the same machine)

I choose to install Icast and Airtime on the same remote machine.

When configuring Airtime, what the server hostname (the same for both Icecast and Airtime) can bet set to ?

I mean :

Could I set server hostname to a non existing (registered) domain name ?

Could I set Icecast server hostname to my PUBLIC IP ?

Could I set Icecast server hostname to just one word e.g lebaroudeur ?

Do I have to respect the common domain name structure e.g icecast.lebaroudeur.info ?

Oui, je parle français, mais je préfère échanger anglais (pour entretenir la langue).

Je viens juste de comprendre que je peux renseigner le nom d'hôte avec l'adresse de IP ou l'adresse vpsXXXXX.ovh.net de mon tout récent VPS (Virtual Private Hosting Server).

Je vais retenter l'installation pour voir si tout est OK ; cependant j'aurai une toute dernière question :

Dans la page d'accueil Airtime, il est recommandé d'utiliser la distribution Ubuntu Lucid 10.04.

Ne vaut il pas mieux se mettre à jour avec la dernière distribution Ubuntu Precise 12.04 ?

si tu peux passer en 12.04 sans problème
