python 2.6 dependancys - airtime - ubuntu 12.04

    Tried to install the latest airtime. on a fresh ubuntu 12.04 lts desktop enviroment to see if would suit me for my plans.

    howveer due to the removal of python 2.6 ( as far as im aware by ubuntu)  im unable to install ..

    whats the best course of action as i think the python 2.6 repos nolonger exsist on the ubuntu servers..

    also the i386 folder on the repo is returning a 404 error

    after a bit of browsing i fouind the answer.. 

    to manually install python 2.6 you need  to do the folowing in term:


    wget http://XX.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/p/python2.6/{python2.6{,-minimal,-dev,-dbg},libpython2.6}_2.6.7-4ubuntu1_i386.deb
    dpkg -i *python2.6*_2.6.7-4ubuntu1_i386.deb
    sudo apt-get -f install

    then follow the airtime install insturctions as per :)

    although returned an error at the end of install :

    *** Installing Python Libraries ***
    dpkg: error processing airtime (--configure):
     subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1


    ideas ?

    i have now downloaded the python source and complied and installed it ..

    im still getting the same error :

    *** Installing Python Libraries ***
    dpkg: error processing airtime (--configure):
     subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
    Errors were encountered while processing:
     airtime
    E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

    I had this same problem and posted about it, but since I did, I've managed to get it working.

    sudo apt-get purge airtime
    sudo rm -r /srv/airtime
    sudo rm -r /etc/airtime

    Download airtime_2.1.0-1_all.deb (from http://apt.sourcefabric.org/misc/)

    sudo dpkg -i airtime

    Airtime 2.1.0 is the first to support Ubuntu 12.04. Use the link that Iain provided :)
