Chosing PostgreSQL as the DB : rationale?

    I discovered Airtime last week and I am a Huge fan. I've been digging into the code base and exploring the roadmap, maybe I will be able to pick up a small feature in the near future

    One thing is not clear to me: Can anybody enlighten me on the reasons behind the choice of PostgreSQL as the DB for Airtime?

    Apparently the rationale behind choosing Postgresql was it's superior date functions.
