Drag and drop
  • On the website, I read that "drag and drop" functionality is present in the playlist builder and in the program calendar. I have tested this in the demo site. Here are my conclusions:

    1) Playlist builder: Indeed, the playlist builder has full drag and drop functionality. Using it is very user friendly.

    2) Program calendar: Here, the drag and drop functionality was more limited than I expected. Let me explain:
    a) Yes, I can *move* a show from one time slot to another, using drag and drop.
    b) But sometimes I want to *copy* (duplicate) a show from one time slot to another. I could not do this.
    c) The most important task is adding a show to the calendar. This is very cumbersome:
    - Specifying the date and time of a show happens independent from the calendar that is displayed on the right. I can not click on a slot in the calendar to insert a show at that specific date and time.

    3) Adding content to a show: Full drag and drop functionality.

So, while drag and drop functionality is available in the creation of the basic building block (playlists and shows), the calendar seems to lack a more intuitive way of scheduling shows.

Also, for a novice with no prior experience in Airtime, it would be interesting to see an explanation of the abstract data model of the whole system. E.g. Calendar -> Show -> Show Instance -> Playlist -> Audio fragment. These terms are used but I didn't find a formal definition of these terms and the relationships between them.

When thinking this over, I wonder why I can't simply drag a playlist to a timeslot in the calendar...

    Hello

yes for now there is no way to copy a show on the calendar

You should be able to click a day on the calendar (and time if in week or day view) by clicking once on the slot if it's a time in the future. This will open the add show left panel if it is not already displayed, and open the when section automatically filling the start date and start time for you.
  • This feedback is great Luc, we're noting these usability suggestions and
looking into how we can better explain the workflow from File > Playlist
    > Show.
