Hi everyone,

Airtime is now ready for localization and we need your help translating the .po file found here:

We already have translators for Korean, Chinese, Russian, and Armenian.

We welcome any other translation that can be contributed.

Denise, please mail other Airtime lists, as there have been plenty of
people volunteering to localize it in the past, but it wasn't possible.

Follow these 4 easy steps:

1. Open the .po file in Poedit http://www.poedit.net/. Or any other text editor will do, but Poedit lends itself nicely to this.

2. Edit the "Language" header and enter in the locale code for the language and country you are translating.

For example, if you are providing a German translation for Germany, the locale code is de_DE so the Language header should look like this: "Language: de_DE\n"

NOTE: If you are using Poedit, go to Catalog -> Settings to edit the Language and other headers.

3. Start translating :)

4. When you are done, simply post the .po file here.

Or if you know your way around Github, clone the Airtime repository and create the appropriate directory structure under airtime_mvc/locale and submit a pull request. There are directory structure examples for en_CA, and ko_KR.

The .mo file will need to be generated from the .po file. Poedit does this for you when you save the .po file.

The command to do this manually is:

sudo msgfmt airtime.po -o airtime.mo

This is a first version of the italian translation. We didn't put it already on Airtime platform.

Maybe we'll bring some changes.

We've added some new messages for our upcoming release and we need your help with the French, German, and Italian .po files. If you edit the .po files in Poedit the messages that need translating will appear at the top. Files are attached. Thanks so much.

I thought that some of the German has been done already in the Google
Translator. Possibly Daniel can give you more insight into that.

Christoph, are you in the Airtime-Dev forum? If not, you will only get
this as an email. Go to forum.sourcefabric.org and see what this is
about :)

I have the German translations that Christoph finished. Since then we've added new strings to all the .po files and that is what we need translated.

I am right now donwloading Poedit and see what I can do about the new strings. More later...

Hello,
first of all i would like to say i am really glad for your software! Thank you for developing it.
Being it an open source is so great.
I am giving it a try on translating it into Greek. At some point (i think i have already translated around 70% of it) i reached to the translation of
- your trial expires in
- purchase your copy of Airtime
So i would like to ask if there are any future plans on moving away from being open source? Will it always offer all its features as open source (and hence for free)? If the answer is no what is the reason for the presence of those two sentences in the .po file?

As Albert mentioned, that is just our hosting service. It helps towards paying development costs of Airtime -Airtime will always be open-source.

It would be nice to make translatable parts available at some service
like Transifex. It's free and it would easify l10n processes.

Thanks Magyar, that's awesome! We will get your pull request merged soon.

We have a new localization tool under construction that will make use of a translation memory like Transifex. In the meantime you can import Airtime or other Sourcefabric .po files into Google Translate Toolkit (http://translate.google.com/toolkit/) which can really speed things up.

however I would recommend using the Transifex web service for this task:

https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/airtime/language/it_IT/

because it has a good workflow, you can share the translation and reviewing tasks with other Italian speakers. Fixes from Transifex are committed automatically to our GitHub so you don't have to make a pull request. Transifex accounts are free for translators.
