[campsite-support] Issue number 0

    Hi

I'm running 2.5.1, and there seems to be a bug if you create an issue
with number 0. It's possible to create it, but you can't add any
articles. I thought it would be a good idea to use 0 for all static
pages as the paper will never have that number IRL.

  • Hi Erik -

Publication, Issue, and Section number zero are reserved for "pending
articles" - articles that have not yet been placed into a
publication/issue/section. So that's why its not working for you.
Perhaps you could use a large number, like 1000. I'm sure other people
might have better suggestions for this...

  • Hi Erik,

Do not use the number 0 for issue or section number. The application should not let you input 0. I'll file a bug report.

Sneak preview the all-new Yahoo.com. It's not radically different. Just radically better.
  • Wouldn't it be better if they used NULL instead?

Although if memory serves me right there's a bug in some mysql versions
    so NULL==0?

The problem with using a high number is that will
then set it to that issue.

  • I would leave this on developers, they for sure have some plan how to do
that. As far as I know, there is a chance to put article out of the
structure (author creates article and later chef editor uses it by
putting to structure) and what value would you expect for these...
I believe developers will be able to find proper solution.
By the way, I use issue number 1 for static content, or sometimes I
simply use different publication. Both ways are ok and it is only
template designer's decision how to handle static content.

In my opinion there are more usefull features, that should be
implemented to campsite. I am crying for template vocabulary, which
should be the place, where template designer can put his static strings
in template. This vocabulary should be connected to localizer, so that
you set templates only once and next language mutation is done only by
    translating expressions in this vocabulary.

And I could continue, but I believe campsite developers will find the
best solution "how" and I can only send bugreports for features. Smile

not really better suggestions, but we use an
extra publication for the static pages. with the
new campsite version that means that you will
have to link to a vhost, but it still works for us.

  • 0 is reserved for issue number, it's already in use for internal purposes.
