failed to upgrade campsite

  • Hi folks,

    here my feedback from trying to upgrade netgazeti.ge from campsite 3.3.4 to
    3.4.1.

    I used the camspite-backup / campsite-restore way. The restore took very
    long because of huge tables Requests and Sessions (4829743/932934 rows), and
    ended with those messages:
    * Restoring the database db1189426-1...
    You must upgrade to Campsite 2.6 or 2.7 first, after that
    run this script again to upgrade to 3.0.

    * Cleaning up...
    ERROR!
    camp_clean_database: can't select the database

    The database seemed not upgraded afterwards, I was able to login to admin,
    have seen some Articles on admin home, but no publications.

    I started the upgrade.php script with output:
    Upgrading the database from version 3.3.x...

    But the upgrade script run quite endless, I stopped the browser to load
    after like 1h. Just to make sure not more than one instances of upgrade.php
    getting started, I blocked all access from other IPs than mine.

    In the admin I can see now the publications, but no templates. They were
    defnetly not copyed to the templates folder during restore. Thatswhy the
    frontend displayes:
    # Error: Unable to select a template! Please make sure the following
    conditions are met: there is at least one issue published and it had
    assigned valid templates for the front, section and article pages;
    # a template was assigned for the URL error handling in the publication
    configuration screen.

    So for now I switched back to old campsite version.
    This evening I would try it without campsite-restore, just change the
    sources and run update.php. If someone have an suggestion what I could check
    or try to do, let me know.

    Best regards,
    Sebastian

  • Clear the Requests and Sessions tables and redo the backup.
