Actually the functionality was there in the subversion repository for
some time, and I was waiting for feedback before making a release. As I
didn't get any, I adopoted the approach of 'release early / release often'.

I wrote something different, which is more open to integration with
other tools. Darklog's approach results in a set of time-cut archive
files. My approach is more flexible - you can cut the archive at any
time you want. I imagined that typically, you'd want to cut at the end
of each program, which information you'd know from your own scheduling tool.
