[campcaster-support] Campcaster installation dependency problems
  • Hi there,

I've just upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10 and wanted to have another go at
installing Campcaster I've tried using the console and the Synaptic
package manager along with the video tutorial on installing but I'm
still getting stuck with dependency issues.

Install begins ok and a message comes up saying
    To be installed
    libglademm-2.4-1c2a

Click OK install starts and fails with an
The following packages have unresolvable dependencies. . . .

    campcaster studio:
Depends: libboost-date-time1.33.1 but it is not installable

Depends: libicu34 but it is not installable

Depends: libxml++2.6c2a but it is not installable

Depends campcaster-libs (=1.3.0-1) but 1.4.0.3beta3 is to be installed

Depends: libxml++2.6c2a (>=2.81)but it is not installable

Depends: libicu34 but it is not installable or libicu36 but it is not
    installable

Complete Novice here so any help would be greatly appreciated installing
onto a Dell Dimension 2400 with a 2.6 Ghz processor and 1.5GB RAM

    Cheers

  • Hi Mark,We have some known issues with the new Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic" right now. Over on the campcaster-dev list we're trying to figure out what's causing those problems (Ferenc Gerlits seems to think it's something with libodbc++, but it might be something else. As soon as we get this figured out, we'll be sure to let everyone know on the support list about it.If you are a developer, though, we'd certainly welcome the help. It looks like your errors have more to do with the Debian package manifest, which may specify older versions of packages than those in Karmic. However, I still think the bigger problem is getting to a build that works under Karmic.Hope this helps, and I hope it doesn't inconvenience you too greatly, douglas=============================================Media Development Loan Fund=============================================Douglas ArellanesConsultantCenter for Advanced Media--Prague (CAMP)Salvatorska 10, 110 00 Praha 1Czech RepublicTel: + 420 224 312 832, Fax: +420 224 315 419Mobile: +420 724 073 364Skype and Yahoo IM: dougiegyrohttp://www.campware.orghttp://www.mdlf.org=============================================http://www.mdlf.org=============================================This message is intended for the use of the individual(s) or entity(ies) to which it is addressed only.  It may contain information that is privileged and confidential.  If you have received this message in error, you are hereby notified that any dissemination or distribution of this communication to other than intended recipient is prohibited.-----campcaster-support-bounces@lists.campware.org wrote: -----To: campcaster-support@lists.campware.orgFrom: Mark Kerrigan <mark@kerrigan.net>Sent by: campcaster-support-bounces@lists.campware.orgDate: 11/21/2009 03:14PMSubject: [campcaster-support] Campcaster installation dependency problemsHi there,I've just upgraded to Ubuntu 9.10 and wanted to have another go at installing Campcaster I've tried using the console and the Synaptic package manager along with the video tutorial on installing but I'm still getting stuck with dependency issues.Install begins ok and a message comes up sayingTo be installedlibglademm-2.4-1c2aClick OK install starts and fails with anThe following packages have unresolvable dependencies. . . .campcaster studio:Depends: libboost-date-time1.33.1 but it is not installableDepends: libicu34 but it is not installableDepends: libxml++2.6c2a but it is not installableDepends campcaster-libs (=1.3.0-1) but 1.4.0.3beta3 is to be installedDepends: libxml++2.6c2a (>=2.81)but it is not installableDepends: libicu34 but it is not installable or libicu36 but it is not installableComplete Novice here so any help would be greatly appreciated installing onto a Dell Dimension 2400 with a 2.6 Ghz processor and 1.5GB RAMCheersMark K<mailto:campcaster-support@lists.campware.org>

I think you still have the old 1.3.0-1 packages (which were built for
Ubuntu dapper, 6.06) in your system, half-installed. Please open
Synaptic (System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager),
search for "campcaster" and remove all campcaster packages. It's best
    to use "Complete Removal".

After that, you can try installing version 1.4.0-3beta3, though it is
not guaranteed to work, since that was not built for Ubuntu 9.10
either, but (I think) 9.04. Doug is working on building new packages
for 9.10, but there are some problems, so it may take some time.

    Regards,
    Ferenc

  • Hi Barry,I'm not sure where exactly the installation is going wrong. However, we are currently working on a new set of packages that will build both on Debian testing and Ubuntu Karmic. Campcaster's development environment builds under Ubuntu Karmic - that's been the case for about a week.If you're interested in giving the development environment a try instead, you might want to check out this wiki howto:http://trac.campware.org/campcaster/wiki/DevelopmentEnvironmentOtherwise, we hope to see these packages in the next couple of weeks, if not sooner; I'll post the announcement as soon as we get it.doug=============================================Media Development Loan Fund=============================================Douglas ArellanesConsultantCenter for Advanced Media--Prague (CAMP)Salvatorska 10, 110 00 Praha 1Czech RepublicTel: + 420 224 312 832, Fax: +420 224 315 419Mobile: +420 724 073 364Skype and Yahoo IM: dougiegyrohttp://www.campware.orghttp://www.mdlf.org=============================================http://www.mdlf.org=============================================This message is intended for the use of the individual(s) or entity(ies) to which it is addressed only.  It may contain information that is privileged and confidential.  If you have received this message in error, you are hereby notified that any dissemination or distribution of this communication to other than intended recipient is prohibited.-----campcaster-support-bounces@lists.campware.org wrote: -----To: campcaster-support@lists.campware.orgFrom: "" <phorum@code.campware.org>Sent by: campcaster-support-bounces@lists.campware.orgDate: 01/26/2010 04:57AMSubject: [Campcaster Support] Re: [campcaster-support] Campcaster installation dependency problemsAuthor: barryfLink:  http://code.campware.org/phorum/read.php?20,7824,8062#msg-8062--------------------------------------------------------------------------------I'm using Debian squeeze dpkg -l shows version 1.4.0-3beta3  to be installed||/ Name                              Version                           Description+++-=================================-=================================-==================================================================================ii  campcaster-libs                   1.4.0-3beta3                      A radio program automation and support tool.rc  campcaster-station                1.4.0-3beta3                      A radio program automation and support tool.rc  campcaster-studio                 1.4.0-3beta3                      A radio program automation and support tool.As you can see campcaster-libs installed fineBut Station failsThe following packages have unmet dependencies:  campcaster-station: Depends: libboost-date-time1.33.1 but it is not installable                      Depends: libxml++2.6c2a but it is not installable                      Depends: campcaster-libs (= 1.2.1-1feisty1) but 1.4.0-3beta3 is to be installed                      Depends: libboost-date-time1.33.1 but it is not installable                      Depends: libxml++2.6c2a (>= 2.8.1) but it is not installable                      Depends: postgresql-8.2 but it is not installable                      Depends: postgresql-client-8.2 but it is not installableE: Broken packagesI already have the following installedii  libboost-date-time1.40-dev        1.40.0-6                          set of date-time libraries based on generic programming conceptsii  libboost-date-time1.40.0          1.40.0-6                          set of date-time libraries based on generic programming conceptsii  libxml++2.6-2                     2.26.1-1                          A C++ interface to the GNOME XML library (libxml2)ii  postgresql                        8.4.2-2                           object-relational SQL database (supported version)ii  postgresql-8.4                    8.4.2-2                           object-relational SQL database, version 8.4 serverii  postgresql-client-8.3             8.3.9-1                           front-end programs for PostgreSQL 8.3ii  postgresql-client-8.4             8.4.2-2                           front-end programs for PostgreSQL 8.4ii  postgresql-client-common          105                               manager for multiple PostgreSQL client versionsii  postgresql-common                 105                               PostgreSQL database-cluster managerAny ideas how much longer?-- Sent from Campware Forumshttp://code.campware.org/phorum
