I want to be able to play two music tracks simultaneously, so I can fade
one down and the other one up at the same time. How can I do this in
livesupport? I only have one soundcard in my laptop.
My other query is ... I find uploading music tracks one at a time very
slow. Is there any way to upload a whole CD full of tracks, all at once?
Thanks Douglas ... I was wondering if I'd missed something. For my
purposes that makes Livesupport good for scheduling but not so good for
programme production and live work. So I look forward to trying out
Belgrade.
Any ideas on uploading several files at the same time?
Thanks for your prompt reply, and good luck with livesupport.

This defeated me, probably because I'm still very new to Linux. I created
a launcher and navigated to the directory, but I wasn't sure where to put
the -d.

I changed my mind and had another go ... this time it worked. I hadn't
inserted a space before the -d ... simple.
So I've pulled in the contents of two or three CDs. Everything seems to go
into the one place, so its not as neat as doing it one by one. It's really
quick, though. I'll play the tracks back over the next few days and report
any problems.
(I'm using the development environment)

So far I'm simply doing all this on my laptop, but the next project will
be to set up a small network with a central storage server. No doubt I'll
be back in touch then!

One other point about using LiveSupport on laptops, if I may, Jimmy:
LiveSupport is really intended optimally for three sound cards, one for the
live mode output, one for scheduled output and one for previewing in
gLiveSupport (also known as LiveSupport Studio).
Considering that USB sound cards work pretty well under Linux these days
(no problems with drivers and all that) and are cheap, this is the way
we're recommending for stations with low budgets.
Otherwise, in terms of sound card compatibility, if it's compatible with
ALSA, then in all likelihood it will work with LiveSupport. There's a good
compatibility list at the ALSA homepage at http://www.alsa-project.org/alsa-doc.
