    The network should work; even the Windows file sharing works here on my
    test Knoppix box.

    Try setting up the network with a static IP address instead of dhcp.
    There is a semi-graphical network setup tool in K-Menu -> KNOPPIX ->
    Network/Internet -> Network card configuration.

    I checked the CD-rom reading, and you are right, it does not work here,
    either. We'll fix it as soon as we can.

  • Hi Ferenc,

    I try what you suggest but !!! without success !!!

    I have 2 eth0 ant eth1 witch one shal I take I try eth0 and put no to dhcp and put an ip 192.168.0.2 and then click click click and at the end I did not know what to put I leave what was on it first but as It did not work, I try to put the IP of my rooter : 192.168.0.1

    After to try : I decided to reinstall all with the no at the question DHCP

    One remarque from my laptop : When i check the device of my rooter I saw 192.168.0.2 and system livesupport
    So my rooter can see my livesupport but from my livesupport I cannot go out !!

    can you ping your router from the livesupport system?

    is the router set as the default gw?

    does name resolution work (what's in your /etc/resolv.conf)?

    please note however, that what your DHCP server (in your router) gives
    to a client, is totally dependent on you - we don't have any control
    over that...

    By "go out" do you mean browsing the web? That would require setting up
    your router correctly, which might be tricky. But can you see the other
    computers on the LAN? For example, try enabling some Windows shares on
    other local computers, and mounting them using LinNeighborhood (in
    K-Menu -> Internet -> More applications).

    Also, I have found a quick fix for the CD reading issue, see here:

  • Result after reinstallation : I click on no at the DHCP question : It is the same.
    I cannot go out even my rooter is not accessible !

    So I loose too much time for today ! And I will wait the next version ! But if you want my help to improve that version, I will try to respond to your question.

    Anaway thanks for you help

  • No I cannot see the other computer of the lan and other computer cannot see livesupport.
  • I try to install it on a specifi CD and decide to wait for the next version.
    But do you need me as a tester ?
    The live CD works but when installed not !
    I expected the installed version to be the same as the live version but running faster !
    Is it worth while to continue or shall I wait for the next version ?

    yes, we do welcome testing, and all sorts of feedback is very important!
