First of all let me introduce myself. I am involved in a group setting up a Community Radio Station in Stonehaven Scotland. I have many years experience with Unix (Solaris HP etc) but not so much with Linux and Radio Stations (other than as a listener).
We are keen to use Open Source software to minimise our costs LiveSupport looks like a great solution for our station.
OK I am attempting my first install of this LiveSupport software and at the same time a Debian Install. My "test" PC is of 1996 Vintage.. a Dell with 128 MB Ram and a 4Gb disk... slow slow slow ... I think its got a Creative AWE sound card... Knoppix install not possible as it won't install from CDROM... so I boot from floppies!
Well my first problem after doing a Debian build (Workstation, Mail Server, database Server, and development packages all selected) I then try a LiveSupport Library Install... wow ... so many dependencies just like patching a Solaris System. LOTS of patience and time required. So I install all the requirements and eventually I get the library package installed
Now to the LiveSupport Station .... I get some more dependencies... but I get stuck on PHP executable error ... Can anyone tell me what version of PHP I should install?
I would say that the documentation is not very good to help me with the above process!! (what is the minimum PC spec) What packages libraries need to be on the PC before installation) I am happy to help with this if you want!
I know I should use a more up to date PC, but we are a start up organisation with NO money! So I am doing this on an "attic" system for free... for fun / experience!
I think there is a HUGE potential for this software in the "UK" as there a 100's of new community radio stations being licensed (slowly) at the moment.
