    Hi Robert,

    Good questions on the sound configs. We'll have to make this more=20
    user-friendly in a future version, but for the meantime, here's a couple=20
    of tips.

    First, to find out which cards are assigned to which positions, open a=20
    terminal and type:

    cat /proc/asound/cards

    and you will get an output that looks like this:

    root@chachi:/home/douglas # cat /proc/asound/cards
    0 [Extigy ]: USB-Audio - Sound Blaster Extigy
    Creative Technology Ltd. Sound Blaster Extigy at=20
    usb-0000:00:1d.1-2.2, full spe
    1 [I82801CAICH3 ]: ICH - Intel 82801CA-ICH3
    Intel 82801CA-ICH3 with YMF753 at 0x1c00, irq 9
    2 [Modem ]: ICH-MODEM - Intel 82801CA-ICH3 Modem
    Intel 82801CA-ICH3 Modem at 0x2400, irq 9

    where 0 corresponds to /dev/dsp, 1 corresponds to /dev/dsp1 and so on.

    There are two places where LiveSupport sound card configuration is kept.=20
    The scheduler soundcard info is in the XML config file is in:

    /opt/livesupport/etc/scheduler.xml

    Look for the following lines:

    The LiveSupport Studio config info is in:

    /opt/livesupport/etc/gLiveSupport.xml

    Look for the following lines:

    You can then change these files to set which sound card is going to be=20
    used for which function. It's probably a good idea to make a backup of=20
    these files before making any changes.

    Hope this helps,

    doug

    Hi Doug and developers!=20

    At last, I have refreshed version of LS project. The problem I had before, =

    But now I have new confusion:=20
    I have 3 audio cards that have been easilly recognized by our=20
    debian-package Knoppix LS, and arranged by it's importance:=20
    0 - SoundBlaster Live=20
    1 - Realtek AC97=20
    2 - Mackie XD-2 Spike professional card on USB=20

    It's now hapenning that LS program take one configuration of audio cards,=20
    like:=20
    0-is master (on air) and 1-is slave (cue). Ok it works, but if I start=A0=20
    shedule mode it inverts their positions and importance,
    and it plays things that are for Cue on On-air card and stuff like that.=20
    How can I set this definitely in our system - which sound card is where=20
    and on what way can I set my studio ?=20
    Can we have some tool in LS like "preferences" tab for sound card - so=20
    that it can prevent=A0 different functions of LS=A0 to change configuration=
    s=20
    of sound cards?=20

    I'm still not sure if this is a bug, because my colleague and I have=20
    thoroughly examinated drivers in order to make Mackie Spike card work in=20
    0-position, as a professional On-air. So maybe on this way=A0 we have=20
    damaged its permanent configuration or something like that.=20

  • has anybody tinkered around with JACK support for LiveSupport at all,
    that might help create a more user friendly interface for managing sound
    cards and managing inputs/outputs and routing all the stuff into other
    things. I think gstreamer supports jack somehow.
