Hi Ferenc,
I tried installing the libs package on my kubuntu laptop, and here is the
list of missing packages. Would it be possible to amass those offending
packages that are not in the standard Ubuntu distribution in a central
place, i.e. can we create an install source somehwere? I can go and find
those out on the web, but shouldn't we start saving everybody's time at
this point?
Sava

I'm not sure how this goes on ubuntu -- in debian, you add a newer
repository to the system, and then use apt-get install.
We did plan to provide our own repository, and it is a good idea; we
just haven't done it yet.
However, ubuntu is not debian, just as mandrake is not redhat, so you
can't expect the package to work perfectly. We need to build separate
packages for ubuntu. And by "we", I mean "a kind volunteer out there in
cyberspace".

Forgive me for a dumb question (as usual), but I thought there was a way
to include the installation of other packages as part of the dependencies?
And if that's possible, why aren't we doing so?
