    sorry, could not get online earlier. firstly the machine would not boot. i assume it was the sun that was shining through the window straight onto the hard disk which was boiling hot. the boot error: primary disk error. then the ISP had DNS problems. now i am online.

    i am now downloading the sources for compiling. which will take even longer than on our machine in prague, i guess... so please tell me the minimum of what i need to do. only comile the studio stuff or do i also need to compile the libraries? it seems that they installed fine from the debian package.
