I managed to compile CVS source and install LS on gentoo system manually
- so I can test some functionality now.
My first impressions:
1) Scheduler and htmlUI are out of sync - htmlUI shows that scheduled
list is already playing but audio signal really really comes around 30
secs or more afterwards
2) When scheduling for example at 19:20 list snap next to hour 19:00 -
htmlUI shows its playing but really there is no audio
3) When htmlUI shows that the playlist is finished the audio signal is
also killed but song is not finished yet as it is lagging behind
4) htmlUI doesn't refresh play meter anymore after song changes - have
to refresh manually to get up-to-date status
5) I have fades in playlist but no fades between songs really happen
6) When having Add Audio or Media library pages - scratchpad audio clip
javascript info overlay is going crazy
7) gLiveSupport aka Studio OnAir application allows to login and some
screens do have some functionality but as I can see most of
implementation is still missing and therefor it's not usable in real
life for now
LiveSupport supports currently only simple timed playlists - no timed
events macros or other macros, no timed next events, no carts, no
possibility to step forward manually in playlist currently playing, no
current playlist modifying, no current playlist mix editing - so nothing
to do with it right now on usual FM station as only very basic
functionality exists but thats not enough for proffessional FM station.
Is there a development roadmap and are there thoughts about this kind of
features?
9) No playlist composer aka music selector functionality - ok there are
commercial alternatives, so that is not the highest priority.
You guys have done a great job so far and as a result of that an good
base framework for further development exists - but there is a huge
amount of development to do still before it gets really usable in real
life. Advanced playlist events and components such as carts and timed
events, macros are essential for FM broadcasting. In that matter Salem
Radios Rivendell is way ahead as it has most of things - functional and
mostly stable studio playout, media library management, etc , but no
music selector and no web frontend. LiveSupport on other hand seems to
be well designed overall but implementation still needs a lot of work as
of now. If I can be helpful with designing some needed features for LS
or with testing LS - I gladly would do that.
I'll post the bugs into bugtracking systems later when I've played with
it a bit more.
