    as for the music tracks, i do not think we can tag them as CC. we can only
    get the *agreement* (read: the correct legal paper) for global distribution
    with the ls sample database.

    but we can discuss this later, because this would have implications for the
    install cd - where we want to ship the files.

    i suggest: let's not inlcude them anywhere in the release and instead make
    a sample database available for download once the install cd is settled.

    but this is actually what a properly selected CC license would hold -
    the information that it's legal to distribute these files for
    non-commercial use, and that the author always have to be clearly marked
    when doing so. the advantage is that all the legal work has been done
    already, we just have to select the license.

    I see that you have a distaste for CC for some reason. well sure, let's
    have our lawyers generate the proper documentation - I just thought that
    we can save effort with an already available license..

    ok, let's aim for this in the future - just as we use GNU GPL for all
    source code, we could have the policy to use CC for all other content...
