    an update on the state of gstreamer:

    I've made numerous bug fixes to our and the original gstreamer code. as
    a result, we currently support mp3, ogg vorbis and minimal SMIL files,
    including embedded playlists.

    during the process I encountered a number of gstreamer bugs, including a
    critical bug (most of the time was spent on hunting bugs in the
    gstreamer code). I guess after this, walking on the mine fields of
    Sierra Leone will not be a big issue for me.

    what's still missing:

    - volume envelope (for fading)
    - compilation of gstreamer and related libraries on Mandrake & Debian
    (it compiles on gentoo fine Smile
