[livesupport-dev] problem with upgrading LS Studio

  • I tried to upgrade my old version 0.91 of LS Studio, and then a problem
    ocurrs:

I downloaded all three links that Doug gave
    me.

    http://www.arellanes.com/livesupport/deb/livesupport-libs_0.9.9a-1_i386.deb
    http://www.arellanes.com/livesupport/deb/livesupport-station_0.9.9a-1_i386.deb
    http://www.arellanes.com/livesupport/deb/livesupport-studio_0.9.9a-1_i386.deb

However, I couldn't istall it because some
libraries were missing (libxinerama and the latest
versions od gcc 1 and libxm12), and I looked for them
on the debian server but I couldn't find the files I
    need.
Then I downloaded source from CVS (netfinity...) by
the instructions that Ferenc sent me (all together
    with the good patience :)))
compiled @install, and at the end it gave me this
    note:

    using configuration file:
    /opt/livesupport/etc/gLiveSupport.xml
    using config file
    '/opt/livesupport/etc/gLiveSupport.xml'
    semantic error in configuration file
    no audioPlayer element

I tried t make something with postinstall scripts
, some new configuration for XML studio, but nothing
changed and I am always having this note...

What should I do...? Has anything changed in the
    meantime?

    robert

  • Great, getting the latest the source from CVS is the best option anyway.

Can you say exactly what you did? Compiling and installing can be done
    in various ways.

    My steps during the
instalation were (this was sent by my admin, who tried to do the
    upgrade of LS):

    -----from my admin:)

    1. download source code from cvs server

    2. ./configure --prefix=/opt/livesupport

    3. make setup

    4. make compile

    5. make install

    Configuration:

       /opt/livesupport/bin/postInstallLiveSupport.sh -d /opt/livesupport
    ....

       /opt/livesupport/bin/postInstallScheduler.sh -d /opt/livesupport ....

Seems to me these are the exact steps, but I cannot be sure
    in the command syntax.

I think that all went ok. I didn't create new base in postgresql,
    besause it already has one,

and we are doing the upgrade. Maybe we could erase the base if it's
    structure was changed.

Ferenc, does this seem enough informations for you? Probably not. But maybe you can tell me in which step we are mistaking, so that we can try it again.

  • Yes, this looks fine. Can you show me the config files
    (/opt/livesupport/etc/scheduler.xml and
    /opt/livesupport/etc/gLiveSupport.xml)?

  • Ok, I will send it to you,
Will you be online tonight after 6pm? My admin friend and I will start
doing this again tonight, so maybe we can write to each other, if you
    have time...

You can write to me directly on my private mail or maybe we can be in
    chat? Do you have time?
